"I'm not going to be okay, Bud."
Bud Clay is a professional motorcyclist on his way to his next race in California. He has five days to make it to the start, so he has plenty of time along the way to reflect on life and mourn the loss of his beloved Daisy, whose face he sees constantly before him.

Well, I thought the movie was good. I can certainly understand the criticism above, but the film still managed to charm me.
Indeed, not much happens (oh no), the main character behaves very strangely to put it mildly (no empathy), and there is indeed a lot of mumbling (oops, deducing emotions from images). For those who are not bothered by this, or even find it helpful, this film will be a whole lot easier to digest.
Nice, unsettling, and very sensitive portrait of a broken man. 4*

A mediocre film about a motorcyclist on his way to a race. The slow pace isn't necessarily too bad in itself (the shots along the way are somewhat atmospheric), but since virtually nothing happens, I couldn't really connect with it. The final scene in the hotel room is worthwhile, but it doesn't necessarily improve the rest of the film.

Deadly boring drama about loneliness and grieving, populated by uninteresting characters. Bud Clay (Vincent Gallo) is a professional motorcyclist on his way to his next race in California. In long-drawn-out shots that seem to last forever, we follow his journey along nondescript highways. Otherwise, nothing really happens. At least, not until the infamous climax arrives, featuring a rather explicit sex scene to which the film owes its dubious reputation. Without that scene, everyone would have long forgotten this hopeless film.
