Hell Is for Heroes plot
"The brutal realities that faced every G.I. during World War II"
A platoon is about to return home during World War II when Sergeant Jones is ordered to be stationed near a German bunker. Private John Reese has serious objections and ignores many orders. Once they arrive at the site, it appears that their platoon are the only soldiers present. Another division has been sent to another place. Their mission is to defend their spot and wait to take over the bunker until another division arrives.

Beautiful film in the then still normal black and white, with magnificent actors playing during the Second World War.
What disappointed me about the film was the unexpected ending during a still-active part. Some say they find that cleverly conceived, an original ending, but I don't!
Other than that, I found the movie exciting enough and also quite comical at times. Just guys hanging out.
A solid 7, and if that ending had been better, as I would have liked, a 7.5.

A unremarkable war movie. It starts off quite bland and boring, but fortunately, the film gradually becomes more exciting. The final half hour is certainly passable. The solid cast adds some value to the whole thing, but not enough to make it memorable.

A good film in which an undersized platoon tries to maintain their position in every possible way. A simple premise for this World War II film, but one in which enough happens. Not entirely without (misplaced) humor, but generally quite raw, and as the story progresses it becomes increasingly suspenseful.
