Some more gore in this part.

The parts differ quite a bit from each other. That's nice in itself, as it gives each part its own face.

The lead actress was quite annoying, but other than that I had a good time with this film. The Candyman remains quite funny.

I just don't understand why he always has to shoot himself apart with the most idiotic special effects at the end. Not quite appropriate.

Entertaining but not really scary or exciting or good. Small 2.5*

Ridiculous, but sometimes also quite funny. In the first sequel to Candyman - which is still a strong horror film - we already saw quite a bit of stupid stuff, but for this cheap TV sequel, all the stops are loose. Candyman: Day of the Dead has the look of a softcore porn with accompanying acting. The main role is played by Playmate and Baywatch actress Donna D'Errico, usually in underpants and looking forward. She apparently plays the older version of the little girl we meet at the end of Candyman 2. I only discovered that afterwards, and honestly didn't expect to find any form of continuity in this franchise.

Anyway, otherwise Candyman: Day of the Dead has nothing to do with the rest. And on the other hand, a lot, because it is basically the second repetition exercise. We see people saying Candyman in a mirror again, after which Todd appears and spears people with a hook. That trick actually started to get a bit boring in the first film, let alone when you see him standing behind someone and using his hook for three films. He's not the most inventive slasher villain, it's fair to say. On the other hand, Candyman 3 does something unique; Finally we know what happens when you say Candyman's name to an egg. I wouldn't have wanted to miss that. Anyway, apart from a few hilarious scenes like this, Candyman: Day of the Dead is mainly an incredibly boring and lifeless film. Quite rightly the end of a series. Now let's see whether the new version - which seems to be released in 2021 - does justice to the first film. But hey, it probably doesn't get much worse than this.

1.5 stars.

Director Turi Meyer tackled the third part of the horror series and has come up with a whole that is approximately on the same level as its predecessor, despite the different direction. This part should focus less on content and more on slasher, a tilt that I personally can only welcome. The unfortunate thing is that a leading actress is chosen with a great lack of acting talent, which quickly gives the impression that she is only there because of her looks. The limited acting qualities do not only come from the leading role, but also from her co-stars. As a result, the drama never catches on and the threatening scenes look anything but convincing. It is advantageous that Tony Todd is in the picture more and there is more bloodshed, but that does mention all the positive points.
