La Ciénaga plot
Mecha and her husband Gregorio spend the hot summer with their four children on a country estate in a treacherous wetland (La Ciénaga), in northwestern Argentina. The house has seen better days. The pool is dirty, shards of broken wine glasses are everywhere. Mecha is bored and drinks too much wine while her husband goes on a hookup. When Mecha injures herself in a drunken stupor, her cousin Tali decides to visit with her four boisterous children. A visit no one wants. The atmosphere is sultry and doom is in the air. An accumulation of events eventually brings the families closer together.
