Pieces of April plot
"She's the one in every family."
April Burns has a bad relationship with her family. She decides to invite her father, mother, sister, brother and grandmother to her small apartment on New York's Lower East Side for Thanksgiving. However, April encounters all sorts of problems preparing for the dinner party. Meanwhile, her family has its own problems to deal with on the drive from Pennsylvania to New York.

Beautiful sincere drama about dealing with a deadly illness and not being able to deal with a close family member. The tone is remarkably intimate and thus never becomes overly dramatic. Katie Holmes sure is very cute as the girl who has to pass to make amends.

2nd revision was just as impressive as the first since I had forgotten a lot after 4 years.. 
The ending actually came as a surprise because I remember just driving the family back home and the movie ended there, no idea why I thought that but at least it made the ending another one much more emotional.
Pieces of April is a very nice drama film with enough underlying and not at all disturbing humor.

How hard can it be to roast a turkey.
Well, so difficult. In itself a nice story and nicely told, it is a pity that the ending is so murderously moralistic. And the humor could have been a bit sharper from me.
The direct and basic way of filming has something in itself - draws you into the film a bit more. The downside is that the image inside is sometimes a bit too dark for me.
Katie Holmes naturally carries the film, and especially due to the somewhat endearing cuteness of her role, the 81-minute runtime is over in no time. Although it sometimes feels a bit long-winded.
