A young woman visits her grandmother's abandoned apartment and discovers strange children hiding there...

I had already seen parts one to six, as well as the mediocre TV remake. To come full circle, I decided to watch this seventh installment with the lowest expectations imaginable. The entire Children of the Corn series is mediocre. There is no standout anywhere to be found. Revelation fits in perfectly with this. The beginning of the film is still quite nice. Then things collapse. It all becomes so standard. Scary children who suddenly appeared and disappeared just as quickly. And of course the usual portion of unnecessary bare breasts should not be missed. Nowhere are any characters explored in depth, which is a shame, as they were set up quite interestingly. The end came sooner than expected. The DVD cover stated a longer playing time. Happy to.

I'm really done with those corn teenagers. To conclude, it was nothing special, but it could be worse. Bye children!

Well, this was to be expected. From a series that doesn't mean much from the first film, you can't really expect a part 7 quickly made straight-to-DVD to suddenly be good. But admittedly, I secretly hope to encounter another film on the level of Urban Harvest, the third film, in the series. But so far the level is only dropping further. Isaac's Return, the sixth film, was the low point of the series and although this Revelations is not necessarily a worse film, the level does not exactly improve either.

In Children of the Corn: Revelations - the same subtitle as one of those desperate Hellraiser sequels - we see a young main character who is bothered by creepy children with flower pot haircuts, suspenders and names of Biblical figures. Our leading actress experiences bad things, including in her nightmares, and goes to investigate, while the other residents of the apartment are murdered one by one by the children. The blonde lady who takes off her clothes, the grumpy man in the wheelchair... they all end up in the terrifying corn. But what's even scarier than corn? Cheap CGI corn! Towards the end we see computer effects like growing corn and explosions, which are hilariously fun. Unfortunately, the rest of Revelations is not hilariously fun, but rather extremely annoying. And it's not like they didn't have the ingredients; they had a great charismatic actor like Michael Ironside at their disposal, but decided not to do anything with him. Talk about missed opportunities.

1.5 stars.

Annoying and, above all, extremely boring sequel to the so-called finale, in which director Guy Magar and his screenwriters hardly have a reason to breathe new life into the series. This time we are again in an urban environment, but the elaboration to support a somewhat original angle is completely lacking. Ultimately, the film has little to do with the original series, it is more of a paranormal horror film in which children happen to be the culprits. The kids are clearly too young and inexperienced for their roles, so the horror effect is completely lost. Add to it some wooden computer effects, uninteresting main characters and unimpressive kills and you have the worst part so far. A snack to quickly swallow and never buy again. Add half for some atmospheric background decor.
