A film that is clearly made to shock, which it succeeds very well, but that does not make it a good film. Some scenes are really crazy.

It's incomprehensible that all this actually happened!

Shocking! Both the gore and the fact that these practices actually happened.
Unit 731 really existed, with these kinds of experiments (physical reactions to weapons and bacteria, and endurance tests), real people (like leader Shiro Ishii) and healthy (war) prisoners as victims. The film focuses on the real horrors in extreme war madness and indoctrination, so I see very little propaganda in it.

It's a rather flat recording with a thin story, a little background information and mediocre acting. There is therefore too little drama build-up to leave me really deeply bewildered, although the scene with the laughing boy is downright gruesome (not so much the autopsy/vivisection itself, but that it was used for it).
The infamous gore effects are quite realistic. I understood that the cat was staged, but I think the rats and the decompression corpse are different.

Nice movie.

There are quite a few shocking scenes in this film. Furthermore, it is an interesting, but very gruesome story that took place at those locations. The production is well put together. The acting is not of a high standard, but certainly not disturbing.
