Leatherface plot
"Witness the beginning of your end."
The film follows an abusive teenager who will one day become Leatherface. He escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates. He also kidnaps a young nurse (Vanessa Grasse) whom he takes on a hellish journey. Along the way, they are chased by an equally deranged cop (Stephen Dorff) out for revenge.

To start with, the film kept me captivated from start to finish, which is already a big plus.
I thought the approach was original and the twist halfway through is surprising. I was on the wrong track anyway. The cast is nice and there are some cool gore scenes in the movie. The classic is of course undisputed, but this one can still be there. At one point I imagined myself in Natural Born Killers. Bud, Bud...my friend

A bit of a disappointment from the directors of the nice over the top À l'Intérieur . It's great that they had ventured into a film like this, too bad they can't come up with such a great deal. But yeah.
In terms of acting, everything is fine. Not everyone acts equally well, but it is enough to watch it for 90 minutes. It's not very exciting anywhere, and it could have been a bit rougher, which Bustillo and Maury can do just fine.
A film where the elements are just missing a bit. You have a good location, nice scenes and promising directors, but then it also has to be a bit more exciting and challenging than the final result.

Admittedly, the beginning is weak and almost amateurish.
But gradually the film grows in quality, and it turns out to be a classic slasher. Then of course you still have to love those kinds of films, but the horror enthusiast will certainly not be disappointed in the second part. All in all, a cautious pass: *3.0
