I thought the first Paranormal Activity was very successful in its design. Making a film with few resources that was so scary that I still went extra deep under the covers at night. As the parts went on, it all got a lot less scary, especially with the whole cult, demon, rite of passage story. Then PA flew out of control as far as I'm concerned and that is no different in this part.

Despite the fact that I thought the acting itself was good (fortunately) and the novelty with the camera found was also well developed, I still missed that real PA vibe. That's why this film just doesn't deliver enough, but it gets stuck at a 5'. Hopefully this was really the last part. Enough is enough.

Oh well... Another Paranormal Activity part... That was another scary night.

Although, since we know about the hat and the brim by now, I didn't shiver with fear. It all seems trite, but the new elements per part always manage to entertain. This time we follow a family moving into the house where Paranormal Activity 3 took place. Well... Well, strange video tapes, the fragments from 1988, the little girl starting to show strange phenomena, moving furniture... you know... No, this part goes a little further. Sometimes almost a bit of the fantasy side... and the end in the attic was quite a nail-biter.

The camera work was also excellent. Only the reactions of the parents to that black shadow were still somewhat mild.

All in all, another entertaining PA part. Probably also the last part... But that can always change. You can see that with Saw.

3.5*

The best has been had.

I do agree that those who have already seen the earlier parts will find this even more difficult. I myself fall under that, and that's why the deja vu level actually reigns. That's a pity.

It seems as if most things are repeating, this film also seems to be a repeat of previous parts. The only difference is actually that the demons or spirits actually come into the picture here. But the lame CGI actually hinders that as well.

Too bad the clichés have to be so striking. Again AGAIN a child with her invisible boyfriend. And always those weird moments to film something also contribute to an even more unbelievable atmosphere that already prevails.

Film is nowhere very exciting, a number of scare moments should actually take care of most of the horror here. But those scares are very similar. 9/10 times it is a figure that quickly zooms in front of the camera with a loud sound.

Movie itself is also quite boring at some point. It's all been done before, and you can already guess most of it. I was shocked a few times by the first scares, but you soon notice that they are so similar that the effect fades further and further.

The only thing that was successful is the final. A nice bombastic horror spectacle that makes it all a bit more exciting. Although you keep wondering why they still have the camera. But hety is very entertaining and knows how to reach a climax in terms of tension.

A movie that should have been better and more original. Also seems to want to cash only under the name PA.
