Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy, it seems like a wonderful combination for a wonderful buddy movie. Another 48 HRS proves that this can also be disappointing. I have to say that I haven't seen the predecessor yet and maybe it would have helped to raise the odds a bit, but on the other hand, each film must also offer something individually and that is not really the case here.

However, the film starts off hopeful. That long intro scene without dialogue actually creates tension. If you don't know it's an action comedy, you'd almost expect an apocalyptic drama. But soon the mood of the film changes. Once Nolte and Murphy see each other again, we get the regular pattern of these kinds of films. Only it couldn't really touch or fascinate me and I didn't really find it that funny. Murphy actually plays as weakly here as in his last films lately and can only spark a laugh on a few moments. Nolte could be a wonderfully gruff addition to the foul-mouthed Murphy, but that doesn't really work either. The story is actually quite solid. It is quite hazy for a long time (because it doesn't have much to the body and apparently it had to be stretched a bit) but it is maintained, but in the final the climax is not really overwhelming and it can't make up for anything either.

Another 48HRS is a very mediocre, even weak action comedy where the action isn't really entertaining and the comical note is very noticeable. Weird but where is it entertaining but the quality is far below level

So this is a clear example that a sequel isn't as good as the original. the click between the two actors is not present and so it becomes a bit of a standard police story and the buddy feeling is missing. But hey the studios saw dollar signs, unfortunate missed opportunity, nice movie nothing more than that.

A film where I always have to think about an aunt that I don't like very much. When the film was first shown on TV in, what will it have been '93, '94, '95, and our family didn't watch much other than the Netherlands 1, 2 and 3, this film came up during a birthday. The aunt in question was rather squeamish about the film, because it was very violent, and then that language, all that swearing and stuff.... bitch. I always have to remember when this one comes along.

The sequel to the more modest 48 hours. Just like in the Beverly Hills cop series, the second part is also a lot smoother, more comical and more violent. The first part almost seems like an introduction compared to the second, but that's okay, just like with BHC. A nice story with a few bandits gone wild, a lot of action, spectacular shooting scene on the highway with the bus, but the soundtrack is practically the same as part 1 but that doesn't bother us. Murphy who is more present, but fortunately not too much, the same bickering between Nolte and Murphy that is doing well and perhaps what a too obvious final boss.

In terms of content and in terms of originality undoubtedly less than part 1 yet based on the action and pure entertainment a more than reasonable film. I'm a little surprised that the film is getting low grades.
