Delightful movie. Slightly less atmospheric than part 1, but with more action and an even more evil Warlock. A few nice kill scenes, only the devil himself was a bit of an anti-climax. The scene where the Warlock dies, on the other hand, is super.

Reviewed on Blu-ray from the German steelbook trilogy. This was the first Warlock film I saw as a young boy, and also my first introduction to Julian Sands, whom I immediately thought was awesome.

Director Steve Miner was replaced by Anthony Hickox (Waxwork and Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth), and he is actually only connected to the original by the presence of Julian Sands, this time a lot more serious and without a ponytail. Once again, he attempts to unleash his father Satan on Earth, this time by collecting six Druid runestones. It is up to teenagers Chris Young and Paula Marshall (who previously worked with Hickox in Hellraiser 3) to stop the man-witch. However, they are not yet aware of their destiny and are being taught the arts of the Druids by (Lethal Weapon Captain) Steve Kahan (which bears a striking resemblance to The Force from Star Wars).

In almost everything actually slightly less than the original, yet I will always hold a soft spot for it because I have so many nostalgic feelings for this film. Once again, it is Julian Sands who steals the show, this time supported by truly insane gore effects from computer geek Bob Keen. Just take that opening scene with the grotesque birth, then we have an elevator that turns into a slaughterhouse, a voodoo torture at a gas station, and the finale with the blessed dagger. A number of familiar faces include Bruce Glover aka Mr Wint from Diamonds Are Forever and Charles Hallahan from The Thing '82.
