Gion no Shimai plot
Umekichi is a geisha in Kyoto's Gion district. She helps her lover, Furusawa, when he asks her to stay with her because he is bankrupt and his wife has left him. However, her sister, Omocha, thinks that Umekichi can spend her time and money better than on this loser. Omocha does everything in his power to get rid of Furusawa.
