Saikaku Ichidai Onna plot

Oharu is a prostitute in 17th century Japan. She prays in front of a statue of Buddha and reflects on her life. As a teenager, she shamed her family by falling in love with a Samurai. She became the mistress of a prince who disowned her when she became pregnant. Her father sold her as a hooker and her life had good moments when she was really in love and bad moments with the despicable people around her.
