After many years (25-30?) I saw this again yesterday, and was not disappointed by the renewed acquaintance.

A lighthearted affair, with fine jazz music, and a bubbly and sexy Virginia Mayo.

It is also Mayo and the music that make the film worth seeing.

Virginia could also lip sync really well

Fortunately, Kaye plays a little more subdued than was usually the case.

Songs with all kinds of crazy accents, his trademark, are absent.

Probably thanks to director Hawks, who must have had his hands full.

Benny Goodman is a great clarinetist, that much is known, but he also plays an actor (Professor Magenbruch) in this.

Unpretentious, but swinging, entertainment,

I thought Ball of Fire, which I saw recently, was slightly better, although both films are quite enjoyable, but I thought Cooper came out better in his comedic role than Kaye.

I also thought Stanwyck had a little more feminine appeal in her role than May did in this version.
