Good film in which an escape via a hot air balloon ends up on a mysterious island. An adventurous and entertaining enough story with a great link to 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. Of course the special effects are outdated, but Ray Harryhausen's craftsmanship is evident in the scenes with the giant animals. Furthermore, a fine music score by Bernard Herrmann.

Fun and above all entertaining adventure film, after the story of Jules Verne and the setting, cast and especially the stop motion work of Ray Harryhausen. Make this a great movie and a tip see this together with 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea from 1954 that's a party
