R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2 plot

The student Evan finds a forbidden spellbook that revives an ancient curse over his hometown of Redhaven. During the Harvest Festival, children with pumpkin heads that were once sacrificed to the curse emerge from the earth and attempt to take over the city. The return of a witch determined to destroy the book seems to be the only hope of saving Redhaven.

The sequel to the Tubifilm released last year is on the same level, but unfortunately features a less original story. Moreover, the influence of writer RL Stine reveals that we shouldn't expect a particularly scary film, and director Jem Garrard handles it all in a somewhat childish manner. Fortunately, the villains are just slightly more suspenseful, but the original premise has been exploited by now and the acting leaves little to write home about. Since it never drags on too long and leaves the ending somewhat ambiguous, it still deserves a few bonus points.
