Auf Einsamer Insel plot

The poor fisherman Dirk de Vaat is in love with the wealthy Sytje de Jong, but her father wants her to marry the rich fisherman Pieter Boes, who is also in love with her. She refuses, which makes Pieter so angry that he swears revenge. When Dirk and Pieter set out to fish, he sabotages the ship and abandons Dirk. Back safely home, he makes it appear that they have been shipwrecked, during which Dirk has drowned. With great difficulty, Dirk, together with his faithful canine companion, reaches an uninhabited island, waiting for help.
