A group of friends sets off for a dream vacation filled with parties and cage diving with sharks. During a sea excursion, they become unwittingly involved in their guide's criminal activities. There are far worse shark movies than this one; I actually enjoyed myself. And Banderas is always fun; this role suited him well. The actresses weren't great and, to be honest, a bit unbelievable in their lightning-fast solutions to everything, but it is forgiven.

A fairly average thriller. The story isn't particularly substantial and has some plot holes. The execution is quite flat, lacking any ingenuity or depth, making it very predictable. The film starts off quite nicely and fresh but quickly devolves into a mediocre thriller, never really generating nerve-wracking suspense. Visually, it is reasonably well done, and in some scenes, the sharks look quite realistic. The acting is passable. Banderas does portray his familiar character again. 2.5

If there are sharks in the synopsis, you pretty much know enough already, but I'm stupid enough to keep hoping that someone will actually make a decent movie out of it for once. But this isn't it; even for a shark movie, this one is way below average, because what an unbelievably stupid film this is. Ugly visuals, actors who are completely useless—due to a lack of talent or disinterest, who knows—but I couldn't care less; I never want to see this whole thing again. And the rest of the crew just as much, because the picture and sound are rubbish too.
And then there's Banderas. Drunk too much on mezcal and now a worm in his head, is that it? Man oh man, where did that go so wrong?
