"Everything Is About To Become Very Clear"
In the early 1940s, racism was rampant in the US. Office clerk Lawrence Newman is mistaken for Jewish by buying new glasses. This gives him a whole new perspective on his life, work and anti-Semitic local residents. Lawrence is fired, but finds a new job at a Jewish company where he meets Getrude. She is also mistaken for Jewish, but claims she is not. They get married and she moves in with him and his disabled mother and they live happily for a while. Until Gertrude discovers that a group of racists, including their neighbor Fred, the Newman family and the local newsstand owner, have targeted Mr. Finkelstein.
