Het Bloed van Mijn Vader plot

Kimberley was seventeen when her father was murdered in his home in Amsterdam. Only after his death did she learn about the darker sides of his life: the conflicts, suspicions, and a criminal past. But what is true? Who was he really? And what role does he still play in her life? Kimberley sets out to investigate. She speaks with family and travels to Suriname, where he grew up. At the same time, she tries to officially bear his surname after all.

On January 25, 2014, Kenneth Richards was murdered. This café owner turned out to be involved in shady dealings, and his death received national attention in an episode of *Opsporing Verzocht* (Crime Watch). His daughter, Kimberley, was 17 at the time and is named after her stepfather. As a belated tribute to Kenneth, she now wants to have her biological father's surname on her passport. This is accompanied by an investigation into Kenneth's past, but partly because her Surinamese family refuses to talk about the past, Kimberley is left with questions. It reminds us that behind every liquidation in the criminal underworld there is also a family mourning a loved one, but it offers no further added value.
