The Russian invasion of Ukraine turned everything upside down for their Scandinavian neighbors. Finland and Sweden are abandoning a long-standing tradition of neutrality and opting for NATO membership. Their citizens are suddenly being advised to stockpile emergency rations. Norway, Finland, and Sweden all share a border with Russia and are within easy reach of strategic military bases. Together, they are now building a military corridor through the Arctic, a region that is becoming increasingly accessible due to the melting ice cap and may hold 13% of the world's oil reserves.
