The Real Red Tails plot
During World War II, the United States was still segregated, meaning white and Black Americans almost never fought side by side. Black pilots were eager to fight for their country, but the Air Force discouraged them with exorbitantly high entry requirements. When pilots did pass the tests, it marked the beginning of the famous "Red Tails," the first squadron of Black pilots. This film documents the recovery of a Tuskegee Airman's crashed plane in Lake Huron. It reveals the 80-year-old mystery through underwater archaeology, eyewitness accounts, and footage of the wreckage.
