Raising the Bar: The Alma Richards Story plot
In 1908, eighth-grader Alma Richards dropped out of school. He saw no point in going to school when he could also work as a ranch hand. A chance encounter with a professor at Michigan State put Alma back on the path of education, which ultimately yielded more than he could ever have imagined, including a trip to the Stockholm Olympics to compete in the high jump and win a gold medal.
