The Visual Feminist Manifesto plot
A birth, a childhood of possibilities, a teenage years of growing pains, the expectations society has of young women. “The Visual Feminist Manifesto” explores how a woman’s life is shaped by the world around her. The viewer witnesses the ways in which she makes meaning, both from her personal experience and from the way she is told to behave, both strongly shaped by patriarchal structures. She is repeatedly told that women are “less than,” and her behavior is constrained by the threat of shame, fear and exclusion. In the meantime, she is searching for a little more emancipation.
