Salt Lake City 2002: Bud Greenspan’s Stories of Olympic Glory plot

Documentary about the 2002 Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake City (United States). The cities of Quebec (Canada), Sion (Switzerland) and Östersund (Sweden) had also put themselves forward as candidates to organize these games. Salt Lake City had previously put itself forward as a candidate to organize the 1998 games, among other things. When the 1998 Winter Games were eventually awarded to Nagano (Japan) by a small margin (46-42), it was decided to pull out all the stops the next time. In the run-up to the election of the organizer for the 2002 games by the IOC in 1995, the IOC members were treated by Salt Lake City to, among other things, all-expenses-paid ski trips, scholarships and jobs for family members of the IOC members and plastic surgery. The plan worked and the games were indeed awarded to Salt Lake City.
