Bud Greenspan's Torino 2006: Stories of Olympic Glory plot
Documentary about the Winter Olympics that were held in Turin, Italy from 10 to 26 February 2006. These were the second Winter Games in Italy, after the Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956. The Games were awarded to Turin in 1999, after a new selection procedure. This was due to the fraud that was allegedly committed in the awarding of the previous Winter Games to Salt Lake City. The IOC members were no longer allowed to visit the candidate cities, but there was a special commission that made a pre-selection and reported on the cities. The candidates that were already eliminated in that pre-selection were Helsinki, Poprad, Zakopane and Klagenfurt. In the final vote, Turin defeated the only remaining candidate, the Swiss Sion.
