Rebellious Tokyo teenager Natsumi spends her summer on Kojima, the provincial island where her mother grew up, living with her estranged aunt Reiko. She convinces her aunt, an Ama diver, to teach her the traditional art of pearl diving so she can secretly search for a treasure her mother left behind years ago.
