Khebizi makes a stunning impression in her feature film debut as 19-year-old Liane, who hopes to escape her unemployed mother [Andréa Besond] and a painful past by becoming an influencer. She does everything she can to gain enough YouTube followers to increase her chances of a role in the French version of the reality show 'Temptation Island'. Based on the positive feedback at her casting call, she already considers herself rich, but her mother and her friends (all young mothers) hardly take her seriously. Moreover, she feels responsible for her sister (and Mini-Me) Alicia [Ashley Romano]. The only one who supports Liane is Dino [Idir Azougli], who knows her past like no other. Liane initially comes across as the cliché image of the narcissistic Barbie doll and arouses little sympathy, but in the second half we gradually discover more about her past and perceive the vulnerability behind Liane's bravado. Nearly ruined by a lazy, unsatisfying denouement.

Another film in a very narrow format. But one in which the visual aspect was the best part of the film. The camera fortunately does not get too close to the skin and this director knows how to fill a narrow image and how to create space. Atmospheric, beautiful colours, expressive images and sometimes pleasantly dreamy.

In terms of content, it was less special. It was really a story that I thought I had seen dozens of times about a family in the lower social classes. All the clichés about absent fathers or mothers, new flings, crime, quarrels within, the younger sister or brother etc. were there. That was a pity.

Debutante Khebizi does a pretty good job, which still makes her role come across well. What I did like is how she comes across to the outside world. Sometimes she keeps it big, but also genuinely feels comfortable by being expressive, but behind that there is a little heart and a certain nervousness - when a boy comes too close she rejects him. At the end she is allowed to go to that program, but you can also wonder how it will go for her there, because she will probably have to cross that boundary of sex. That makes the ending sad but captivating. 3.0*.
