La Venue de l'Avenir plot

About thirty family members learn that they are inheriting a house that has been abandoned for years. Four of them - Seb, Abdel, Céline and Guy - are charged with taking inventory of the house and discover hidden treasures. They track down the mysterious Adèle who left her native Normandy at the age of 20. She ended up in Paris in 1895, at a time when the city was undergoing an industrial and cultural revolution. For the foursome, this introspective journey into their family tree takes them back to the end of the 19th century, when photography was invented and Impressionism was born.

The French government wants to demolish an abandoned farmhouse to build a parking garage, but they need permission from the descendants of the last owner, Adèle Meunier [Suzanne Lindon], who left the farmhouse in the 1890s to seek her fortune in Paris. Four representatives of the descendants search the farmhouse for valuables and uncover their shared history through the photos and letters left behind before deciding whether to have it demolished. Past and present intertwine amusingly in this lighthearted, unpretentious nostalgic tribute to Paris, in which great care has clearly been taken with the costumes and makeup of Adèle's era.

A colorful film with vibrant imagery, interweaving the past with the present within the framework of the future revealed in the beauty and expression of painting and photography, all the way to the modern artwork of today. Heirs meet and cross paths with their ancestors, with one lady in particular providing an unprecedented turning point. A picture-perfect film. "La venue de l'avenir" (The venue of the future) is a play on words from "L'avenue de l'avenir." The skylight. Striking: Sara Giraudeau's look when she meets her daughter. Sara could be Silvia Kristel's daughter.

A good film about a family deciding what to do with an old house because of an inheritance. Two stories told in parallel, separated by 130 years. The constant switching between past and present further emphasizes the differences. It takes a while to determine the film's direction, and the past story is more captivating than the present.
