It's not subtle, but for cinephiles, this daring, idiosyncratic, genre-bending dissection of the modern family is a treat made for the big screen. Milena [Nicollete Krebitz] and Tim [Lars Eidinger] strive for a better world, but it comes at the expense of their relationship—and that with their teenage children, Jon [Julius Gause] and Friede [Elke Biesendorfter]. A pair of tragic events throws things into sharp relief, and the arrival of housekeeper Farrah [Tala Al Deen], who conducts spiritual sessions with the aid of a strobe light, offers the family an opportunity to examine their lives as a family.
