Mike McKenna is a down-to-earth construction worker from Jersey. One day his world is turned upside down when he meets his ex-girlfriend Roxanne Hall again. Mediocre film in which a construction worker receives an unexpected visit from his childhood friend. A run-of-the-mill plot that fails to captivate. The same goes for the interaction between the two main characters. Beautiful locations and a number of excellent action scenes unfortunately fail to save the film.

After seeing the trailer, my expectations weren't too high. Since I almost always like movies with Mark Wahlberg, I watched The Union last night. In short: Mission Impossible x Spy Kids = The Union, and I quite like the result. The story is of course completely unbelievable and full of fantasy, but thick enough for an action comedy. The action scenes are completely fine and the cast does a good job. I like to see Mark Wahlberg in these kinds of roles as a grown man in his forties, who is mentally stuck in his twenties and Halle Barry can act better, I know, but she plays a nice role. Moreover, I think Wahlberg and Barry click together; in my opinion the chemistry is thick. Just an entertaining movie for a Friday night, where you don't have to think too deeply.
