"Discover the first special forces mission in history."

During World War II, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials, including writer Ian Fleming, set up a special combat unit. The top secret division, consisting of a motley crew of daredevils and misfits, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis. They may use unconventional and extremely ill-mannered combat techniques.

excellent action/war film (based on a true story)

plenty of action, great story.

and the Germans themselves actually speak German, which I think is a big plus.

usually in English and/or American war films they all speak English.

More than worth 3.5 stars...

Entertaining WWII adventure, more or less based on true events. Within a few minutes it becomes clear that director Guy Ritchie is not very concerned with the truth, but the film is so energetic and infectious that this makes little difference. The Nazis are falling like dominoes and the cast seems to be having a lot of fun, although lead actor Henry Cavill actually has little to do.

Guy Ritchie was perhaps the worst director I knew until 2020. I still haven't seen Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, but wow, what kind of shit he made in the last decade. He always made such a mess of telling a story. Pure chaos. Since The Gentlemen I saw an improvement and now I dare say that this was a quite entertaining film. For once Cavill is not the ultimate muscle man, the Dane Lassen is a beast. Ritchie likes these types of films best.
