Nice film about a team trying to conceive a test tube baby. Based on a true story, the film manages to deal with a number of issues that IVF raises. It does not always run smoothly, partly because the story spans a decade, sometimes lacks focus and there is some repetition.

Reasonable film about the inventors of ivf, a technique that is still important today, for people who cannot have children. So a world of difference and happiness for some.

Personally, I have a different opinion about having many children these days, but I'm not going to say it, because most people won't like to hear that.

McKenzie isn't that well known but I think he's a pretty good actor...

First I have to say that two weeks ago I watched the classic 'Love Actually' again at Christmas and next to Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy plays a wonderful role. Well, this actor has always stuck with me because of that role as an overage singer who also provided the unforgettable soundtrack 'love is all around me..'. Well, so many years later, in this film I meet Bill Nighy again and it strikes me that he has the same character traits as in Love Actually. So I do like this actor and his style. He really is an added value in this film. So he plays a more serious role here, but he does it very well. Is the main attraction in this.

Next to him you have the New Zealand actress Thomasin McKenzie (just googled) who is unknown to me, but does just as well here. Plays an unfeeling role, that still struggles with a lot of emotional problems. Beautifully portrayed. Next to both of them is James Norton who came across to me the easiest and left the least impression.

First of all, I know that this is a film that will not appeal to everyone, but I find such films very interesting. Why? Well, it is based on true events and through these films you actually learn something about certain important aspects of our history. So film fun and history lesson in one. And yes, true events are not always that exciting and colorful. But what I found interesting here is that I know IVF by term but have never really thought about what it really is, let alone how it came about. As the film shows, this is a science with many trial and error, with many disappointments but ultimately also with the success of succeeding (of course this is not a spoiler, because everyone knows IVF).

What is also nice in this movie is the background of the characters.

Beautiful film adaptation and completely my genre, so 4.5*
