Thought it was strange that the big premiere was more than a week before the regular release,
apparently now having a full week premiere in all cinemas.
About the movie:
David Gordon Green (director) who wants to create a new horror trilogy, after Halloween.
Fortunately, this film was better than all of his Halloween films combined.
But it's certainly not like The Exorcist used to be, which we can't expect.
The two girls who play the leading roles in the film do an excellent job.
Story was good & Ellen Burstyn is back, very nice.
But pacing in this film is a bit of a problem.
There are certainly good moments in it, but a bit too much blablabla...
3 stars is fair for this film, but just under 3.5 stars because I still miss things.
Maybe the next one will be less blah, but still a good start.

Awesome movie!
Don't assume it's the same as the original.
The two young girls played their roles so well, they were really scary! They made strange faces and the make-up was not over done.
Katrine's father did bother me, though. Just stupid character should have been removed.
The cinematography was on point.
Some parts were too intense for an exorcist movie but this made it even scarier.
The playing time was just too short, it could have been 20/30 minutes longer. It was now much too hasty in my opinion.
The director did a good job. Of course it will never be better than the original, but this was really on the same level. In terms of narrowness, it is even higher.
In short, the game was good, the editing flowed well. Definitely a nice movie!

Don't be fooled by the trailer! Ellen Burstyn only appears after an hour and disappears from view quite quickly. What remains is a family drama with a grotesque, religious slant with a confused denouement and a unnecessary epilogue. The opening doesn't bode well. The two fighting dogs are a flashy reference to The Exorcist, but this time they are frolicking dogs that do not appear to pose any threat. The same goes for the rest of this film, which wastes half an hour on the uninteresting backstory of one of the girls who disappears without a trace and only shows up again 3 days later. Angela [Lidya Jewett] and Katherine [Olivia O'Neill] went into the woods to contact the spirit of Angela's mother, who died at birth (according to that long-winded prologue). It will come as no surprise that the girls are possessed by a devilish spirit. But hey, Angela's dad [Leslie Odom Jr.] doesn't believe in God. Could his religious friends convert him so he can save his daughter? The make-up effects and acting are good, but the film is bizarre and pure madness. William Friedkin and William Peter Blatty are sorely missed.
