Ballerina plot
"Merciless and ruthless, to hell."
Ok-ju used to work as a bodyguard. She excels in physical activities such as martial arts, swordsmanship, marksmanship and motorcycling. She befriends ballerina Min-hee and tries to protect her. When this fails, she mourns the loss of her best friend. Ok-ju is subsequently determined to fulfill Min-hee's dying wish: to take revenge on those responsible for her death.

I found it a bit disappointing, especially after the comparison here with Kill Bill. This is much more of a dime a dozen revenge story. Ballelina doesn't do much wrong, but it doesn't do much right either. I thought the dry kill of that mafia boss was cool. The flashbacks are mediocre.

A compelling revenge film must either have spectacular kills or a compelling avenger with a fully developed character in the film. (or both of course...) Ballerina floats between the two and is not entirely convincing. The opening isn't too bad, but what a busy montage! In any case, the film is colorful and has enough pace to keep it interesting. But nowhere does it really become special, so that it is nothing more than a nice snack for fans of the genre.

Mediocre revenge film. The story is simple. The effect varies. On the one hand, it is visually quite enjoyable, with beautiful neon-colored images and very fast editing of the fight scenes. That all looks good and no one liter of blood more or less is taken into account. Unfortunately, the main character lacks character and comes across as cardboard, making it difficult for the viewer to sympathize with her. As a result, the film is not really interesting. The film does contain some very nice scenes, namely when the main character goes to purchase weapons. Visually fascinating but otherwise somewhat soulless. 2.5
