Since 1975, the population of the goat wool socks commune has shrunk considerably. Today it is 1999 and only Göran and Klasse remain. Feeling a bit lonely, they conceived the idea of reuniting with their old friends.

Together (2000) showed how a group of people founded a commune in 1975 and learned to live together. This sequel takes place in 1999 when only Göran [Gustaf Hammarsten] and Klasse [Shanti Roney] are left. A surprise party in honor of Göran's birthday brings everyone together again. Under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicants, discussions arise about changed insights and undiscussed issues. Moodysson's loose direction provides spontaneous, authentic performances, but the screenplay has little original content to offer.

The level of the original film is not achieved, but the characters are also unable to reach the euphoria of 1975. So that's appropriate. As a standalone film, Tillsammans 99 may fail, but it is always good to look at what ideals you used to have and to what extent you have grown as a person. But the question remains whether you are able to live together with others.
