A low budget variant on[i] . In a special hospital, scientists try in vain to prevent further mutation. When Émile discovers that he himself is mutating, he does his best to hide it from his father [Romain Duris], because he knows that he will do anything to protect him from the mutations that are labeled as hostile. But Émile gains new insights when he meets Fix [Tom Mercier], a grumpy peer who has mutated considerably further. Exarchopoulos plays a sympathetic cop who protects society from mutants. Generally well acted and Ariane Daurat and Eric Ducron deserve praise for the costumes and make-up, but the screenplay is too poor.

I especially give the points for the acting performances of Kircher and Duris. I have already seen better films on this subject and certainly the character Fix did not really appeal to me, and to be honest I expected more from it...

Fairly strong fantasy drama. The story is quite nicely conceived, although not everything is clearly explained. The mix of fantasy, a bit of action and coming of age drama works out well. The film is never boring, although it does slow down a bit halfway through the running time. The great thing is that, despite the fantasy, the film manages to touch the viewer. Partly thanks to Kircher's strong acting. Visually also a great film with reasonable make-up and nice CGI. 3.5
