The completion of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is near and it is becoming increasingly clear how Gaudí's project has presented his successors with numerous challenges. The huge basilica, which one must understand in order to build it, has captivated the successors of the Catalan architect for more than a century. The documentary reconstructs the construction process and tries to understand it better, from its origins and inspiration to the most recent architectural interventions.

In 1883, the then 31-year-old Catalan architect Anton Gaudí took over the construction of a church in the heart of Barcelona from Francisco de Paula de Villiar, who was at odds with his clients. Until his tragic death in 1926, Gaudí worked on a project that he knew he would never see completed. This fascinating documentary shows how Gaudí wanted to transfer his vision to his successors and makes clear why this ultimately proved to be very difficult. 140 years after construction started, the Sagrada Familia has become the showpiece of Barcelona and construction has reached a new milestone. All current key players in construction will have their say.
