Matter out of Place plot

A Mediterranean beach where the high tide line is marked by a wide strip of plastic bottles. A simmering mountain of rubbish in the Himalayas. People are giving their calling card everywhere. Fortunately, there are also people who try to do something about it, professionally or as a volunteer. From a garbage collector who sends his bicycle trailer through the streets of Kathmandu to the divers who clear the Greek waters of pieces of metal and car tires in a magical underwater ballet. Filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter shows how the clearers work: inventive, sometimes against the rocks.
