Onze Natuur plot

'Our Nature' shows the stories about known and unknown animals in the Belgian backyard. This is a unique look at the victors, opportunists, eaters, fighters, smarts and bosses. But also that of the losers, the species that we may not encounter in a few years. Natural selection in its most cruel and fascinating form, in a country where at first glance there seems to be no room for that wild nature.

Who would have thought? Our nature is a real blockbuster in Flemish cinemas with full houses in the first weeks/month after release. It also helps that there is a lot of advertising for it and that there were already several articles or reports on the news or in the newspapers.

Our nature, the film has become an ode to all the beauty that the fauna and flora have to offer in Flanders. The city and ribbon development may have made its advance, that does not mean that nature simply gives up. With the patience of an angel, this documentary was made with care and love. The result is impressive and is not inferior to a BBC series, for example. Beautiful images in slo-mo or close-ups provided with supporting witty classical music. No Vic De Wachter this time who provides the voice-over, but Matteo Simoni.

The first sex film for my children, because there is quite a bit of f**king going on. And here and there some pretty hard images between hunter and prey. Life is not easy as a hare or a wood mouse. That shrike is unexpectedly ruthless I must say. Too bad we didn't get to see any wolves or lynxes, but all the other main characters more than soften that pain. Recommended and perhaps so much more effective in the cinema than in a year or so on Canvas.

Documentary about life in the Belgian nature contains beautiful images and during four seasons contains beautiful images from the beginning. Starts with photogenic animals such as squirrels, foxes and pigs with patronizing commentary. After the mediocre first half hour, the attention fortunately goes more to special animal species and the directors show the cross-connections with which nature maintains itself.
