With the conviction of ex-president Desi Bouterse, a dark page in Surinamese history seemed to be turned. But that did not happen, according to filmmaker Ananta Khemradj. The ruling causes division within the Surinamese community, in Suriname and the Netherlands. Conspiracy theories about the 1982 coup attempt continue to circulate. Khemradj wonders how the Surinamese people can heal and starts a conversation with fellow countrymen. Should Khemradj also speak to Bouterse himself? Or is she giving him an unwanted stage with this?
