What a monstrosity of a movie, in the same vein as some Ritchie dragons like Snatch and Lock, Stock.

I mention these films because the idea seems to be directly inspired by Ritchie who in turn was influenced by Tarantino. The only difference is that Tarantino knows how to write captivating characters that fall just within the credibility, making them come across as funny, sincere and menacing and his lyrics are also a lot better written. In this Bullet Train they want to be very hip (the whole thing with Thomas the Tank Engine is not funny anywhere) but that is why it is nowhere. The actors all know little about their roles. That duo is especially annoying. In fact, Pitt saves the film a bit because he knows what kind of film he is in, and that older Japanese gentleman still exudes a bit of authority. And Joey King is a favorite anyway, but she can't do much with her role.

Furthermore, quite a few side plots that also mainly want to be hip and here and there a surprise, but this is such a film that you know that there are quite a few plot twists in it and it is only a matter of waiting which the makers come up with exactly. In the end it turns into a yawn fest. No fascinating characters and a bad story, but the action is also disappointing. Often shot messy, in any case nowhere particularly exciting (like the entire film is nowhere because it doesn't take itself seriously anywhere) and supported by hideous cgi. 1.0*.

Terribly boring movie with 0.0 comic timing. Rarely so bored with a movie. To compare this to Ritchie or Tarantino is to compare the TV Canteen to Jiskefet.
