A ouija board and a fortune teller have convinced Faith that the man of her dreams, her soul mate, is Damon Bradley. Together with her sister-in-law Kate, she decides to look for him, and this leads them to Venice. There she meets Peter, who immediately adores Faith and wants to win her over. Light-hearted and charming rom-com about destiny and where Marisa Tomei chases it to Italy. A nice story and despite the too long playing time, quite entertaining. Partly because of the two charming protagonists and also a nice supporting role by Billy Zane. Fun to watch, but the film never transcends the genre.

Textbook example of a romantic comedy with a (predictable) final scene that makes you melt. You have to be a rather grumpy type for this movie not to put a smile on your face. Jewison has made better movies, but this one is the best.

I'm not that fond of this movie. It's all a bit exaggerated. It's like watching an episode of an average Disney series. I think this is a must for beginning teens. Teenagers who can still swoon wonderfully. Because that's how the actors behave. Constantly the same swoon over the love of your life and destiny. Nice for young people, but as a 30-year-old I can no longer find myself in it.
That I have to find Robert Downey Jr. in such a film really surprises me. Marisa Tomei often comes across as childish in her actions in other films, so that doesn't surprise me.
I also expected to see some beautiful images of all the beautiful Italian places she visited, but I also found that a bit disappointing. Probably because the film is already quite old. That could of course be possible.
I really liked the standard ending in the plane. No originality at all in this either, but hey, that's okay with such a film. Then I secretly swooned a bit.
