The Humans plot
The Blake family gathers in Manhattan to celebrate Thanksgiving. Brigid and her boyfriend Richard receive her parents Erik and Deirdre. Her older sister Aimee and Erik's mother Fiona, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, are also present. Strange things happen during the evening and tensions within the family run high. Partly because Erik and Deirdre are not happy that their daughters have left home and forsake their faith.

Sober film adaptation of the play of the same name, unknown to me by the way. The excellent cast makes something of it, especially the always excellent Richard Jenkins, but it does not want to be really exciting or fascinating. In the second half, when tensions in the ramshackle apartment increase, you can enjoy sharp dialogues and some uncomfortable, almost horror-like moments here and there, but in the end it all doesn't mean much.
