At first sight this is a new interpretation of Beauty & The Beast, but that is only one facet in this animation. A film about virtual reality, without focusing too much on it. About grieving and teenage love. But first of all very touching with a teenager who is introverted. It all looks light and colorful and at the same time an animation is rarely so layered. It touches from the visual decoration to the captivating characters over the subtle humor and beautiful music to the very emotional moments. Glad I was able to see this in the cinema, and of course in the original version. I only discover these kinds of animations when they have been out of the cinema for a long time, when they are already being played there. Highly recommended!

I missed this at the cinema. Too bad really, because the impact could have been even bigger on the big screen. Belle is a nice quirky fairy tale that gives the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast an alternative and more modern twist. A fairytale perfectly tailored for the current generation, where everything revolves around the virtual world and the status you have there. Hence the many similarities with, say, Ready player one or Wreck-it Ralph.

The plot is compelling and had potential for further development in a series or something. Visually very nice anime and the atmosphere is also fine. The soundtrack made it even better. The message about identity and privacy is also strongly emphasized so that the anime has something extra to offer. Top!

The best Hosada I saw so far. I've never really been blown away by him and from what I've seen I felt that sometimes it was too obvious to see that something is digitally animated. That's still a bit with this movie, but the animation is so rich and overwhelming during those moments, which also happen in the digital world, that it's hardly distracting and maybe even appropriate.

Also the plot is interesting, but also a bit unbalanced with so many elements that come into play. It has already been mentioned above by many. A digital Beauty and the Beast story mixed with grief, love and child abuse. There is even a scene that is somewhat reminiscent of the ball scene of the Disney movie. I have the feeling that the different elements do not all click together flawlessly, but it is fascinating. A big 4*.
