Drijfzand plot
The story is about an intriguing mother-daughter relationship and its impact on three generations of women. When Helena announces that she has a brain tumor, Suze's quiet family life on the island comes to an end and her obsessive-compulsive disorder gradually takes on worrying proportions.

Suze [Hanna van Vliet], her Finnish boyfriend Luukas [Simeoni Sundja] and daughter Juul [Elin Koleci] are preparing for grandma Helena [Elsie de Brauw]'s visit to their house on Texel. Suze is very tense and Luukas is a bit worried and it soon becomes clear why. The complex relationship between mother and daughter is put to the test even more after Helena casually reveals that she has a brain tumor. The stage diva who works in Amsterdam is starting to demand more and more of her daughter's time and attention. As a result, Suze's obsessional neuroses slowly but surely resurface and this is to the detriment of her family. A subtle, realistic drama avoids melodrama and strikingly shows how a mother-daughter relationship can carry on to the next generation. Van Vliet, De Brauw play the stars from heaven, Koleci holds her own as Suze's daughter, composer Thalia Ioannidou and sound designer Matis Rei contribute to the oppressive atmosphere that strengthens and maintains the oppressive atmosphere.
