'Belle Reve' is the prison with the highest death rate in the US and where the worst super villains are imprisoned. They do everything they can to regain their freedom, even if it means joining the ultra-secret and dubious 'Task Force X'. This time again it's all or nothing for a motley collection of bad guys. Heavily armed, they are dropped on Corto Maltese, a remote island, where they must travel through a jungle full of militants and guerrillas to complete their mission of destruction.

Bad.
The first version doesn't amount to much, but this attempt also fails to be a great action film. Overall it might be slightly better, but there are also countless failed attempts at humor, cool one-liners and the like.
In terms of look, the cartoonish approach can provide some innovation, albeit that a cacophony of ugly colors is presented, which is no surprise with ugly creatures like King Shark. By the way, CGI is also very mediocre for a blockbuster with, I assume, a big budget.
Will Smith has been replaced by Idris Elba, in a different character but with identical storylines. Also some familiar faces, including Margot Robbie and Joel Kinnaman returning. That may provide some extra fan service, although I haven't been able to get impressed by anyone.
Cool concept. Two attempts, two failed outcomes. Maybe try a third time.

An 8/10 on IMDB? Don't make me laugh man... just as shitty as F9. Bland jokes, clichés, a deadly boring story with, if it wasn't so pathetic, a laughable final boss. The movie also sometimes doesn't know whether it wants to target 18+, with the gore and tearing people to pieces, or whether it wants to target kids with those ridiculous CGI monsters we soon find out. come that mister shark is immortal.
2 hours and still being able to come across as long-winded, that's great. 2 hours of pure boredom, thank you.

James Gunn comes to rescue the DCEU. Or has a lucky shot in a franchise where there is not much to experience outside of Wonder Woman. Gunn gives the film its own face that differs from the MCU, where DC tries to measure itself anyway. R-rated with the necessary black humor, wonderfully bizarre and not afraid to kill important characters. The film even goes further than the Deadpool films, which also try to attract a different audience with R-rated scenes and humor. The film has a nice pace and provides a lot of entertainment with the necessary WTF moments. If DC is to survive it will have to make more of these kinds of movies.
