The Boys of H Company plot

At 9:00 am on February 19, 1945, the soldiers of the United States Marine Corps 5th Division (H Company) lowered themselves through rope nets into the landing craft floating alongside the ship in the rough seas. The operation had started. Their target: the island of Iwo Jima in the South Pacific. H Company consisted mainly of boys aged 18 to 20 who had been training for this day for over a year. Many did not leave the island alive.
