With such films with little promotion, which remain in the background for many and which you find little about in terms of reviews, etc., it is like going into the film completely blind and just letting it happen to you.

But, this 'little' film managed to captivate me again, there was such a nice atmosphere in the film immediately, the acting was also strong. The whole psychological and horror, worked well, which made me really experience this film. And okay I'm crazy about that German language Definitely recommended.

Marlene [Sandra Hüller] suffers from a serious sleep disorder and hopes to find peace in the company of her daughter Mona [Gro Swantje Kohlhof] in a remote, largely empty hotel. However, things quickly go terribly wrong there, causing Marlene to end up in hospital and Mona to be forced to stay behind until her mother has recovered. Mona is soon also plagued by nightmares and tries to find out what the cause is. And what the hotel owners Otto [August Schmölzer] and Lore [Marion Kracht] have to do with it. A bit of The Shining with a good dose of Blue Velvet, further supplemented with the bizarre, but intriguing visual and content ideas of director and co-writer Venus, who manages to evoke a very uncanny feeling with cleverly constructed images and sublime performances. A modest production, but a great psychological thriller.

Sleep. Yeah, that happened to me too towards the end of the film. I dozed off for a bit. But when I rewound, it turned out that I hadn't missed anything and that the ending doesn't make you any wiser about what exactly you've been watching. Is this horror? A thriller? Luckily we have Collins to clarify a few things. But still. This is just not for me.
