Madam Ppang-Deok plot
"Love, lust and obsession."
Eight years ago, a scandal forced Professor Hal-Kyu to move to a smaller town. He works as a literature teacher at a cultural center and has fallen in love with Deok-Yi, a young woman who works at an old amusement park. But one day, Hal-Kyu is reinstated and is offered another job at the university. He leaves for Seoul and leaves Deok-Yi. He becomes a popular writer but, due to an illness, his vision deteriorates.

A film with two faces. The first part is an erotic love drama. That leads to an act of revenge in the second part. In fact, it is a case of revenge squared, because one thing leads to another. Not a special film, but quite a nice, varied pastime. The ending is rather sinister because of the cool, almost businesslike way in which it is presented.

I was deeply impressed by this film. I did not find the story unbelievable. Love that remains love but also with a component of revenge, and yet not. No cardboard characters, but people with (many) weaknesses, searching for what is good. So this film is about something. The ending also does not leave you untouched. Another Korean film that stands out. I must also mention the beautiful classical score, with the beautiful cello concerto and not to forget the care that has been given to the camera work, the acting is also fantastic. For that alone an extra point.
